Mechanical Turk
Can You Actually Earn Reasonable Money from Mechanical Turk?

The guy, who is a rather qualified writer, was able to make $7.61 per hour. Considering that it is fairly easy to find an $8-10/hour brainless job, performing those intelligent tasks for less money does not seem worthwhile. However, those that are homebound might find it useful to make a few extra bucks while caring for a child, or a house, for example. Or, if you are one of the many that have lots of free time at your regular job, you can effectively supplement your income from your office computer.

you might also want to consider those people in the world for whom $7 an hour is some serious cash. Internet does not only revolve around US and Europe ;)

MT requires good English skills in the majority of its tasks, which leaves out most of the poor world. Except for India, perhaps.

only about 5% of all Indians are perhaps good enough to work successfully with MT, but most of them surely have a more gainful employment :)

you, economists, should take your rose-colored glasses off every once in a while :))
